From the Rijn

What if the Rijn could speak? What would it say, what stories would it tell?

All my life I have lived close to the Rijn, first in Utrecht and now in Arnhem.
I have swum in the Rijn, I have iceskated on the Rijn and (to some people’s surprise) I’ve fished in the Rijn.
The Rijn is one of earth’s greatest rivers. In size and in age. So what secrets does it keep? I wanted to create a metaphorical monologue told by the Rijn. I did this by recording sounds in and around the river.Using these recordings I edited a soundscape in Ableton by trying to capture the river’s ancient character.
